Blog Post 5
After reading chapter 5 from the Bedford Book of Genres, I went into thinking about how brainstorming is different for everybody and there are many different ways to brainstorm. My favorite way to brainstorm is by making brainstorm webs to set the topic up and then begin spilling ideas onto the paper and then narrowing it down to my best ideas. I really benefit from this type of brainstorming since I am a very visual learner it makes it easier for me to organize my ideas when I make a web or even sometimes Venn diagrams. It also helps me to brainstorm the structure of my paragraphs by testing out different sentences in my paragraphs to see which fit better where. While doing all this brainstorming It also helps me a lot to categorize my sources together into groups of common topics. If my project is on dogs and I have a few different sources talking about their different types of hair, some talking about their friendliness and some sources on their overall health, then it really helps my essay get started if I divide those sources into these specific categories and begin incorporating them into my paragraphs as I write. Not everybody enjoys preplanning paragraphs but personally they aid me a lot in the process of writing essays, especially those that require research.
